Cold weather remedies.

February 10, 2018

Lately I’ve been feeling the effects of a very cold winter with limited sunshine. The cold has inhabited my body, making neck and back injuries worse and joint pain more pronounced. I was happy to receive the gift of rosemary from a friend’s garden today. I was shocked that this plant gives off such a beautiful, pungent scent when cut this time of year.
Not only does rosemary enhance the senses, it is also used in aromatherapy as an inhalant/decongestant and to enhance memory. Rosemary is high in iron and vitamin B6. When taken internally, rosemary has anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory agents that may shield the brain from free radicals, lowering the risk of strokes and diseases like Alzheimer’s and ALS. It is also said to help breast cancer by blocking estrogen. The next time you’re in the grocery store, get a few sprigs to boil on your stove and put in your bath. I just found out that rosemary sprigs soothe aching muscles and arthritic pain when added to bath water...
